The School of Humanities draws upon the basic building blocks of the Western intellectual and cultural traditions, as well as the traditions of non-Western cultures.  Every aspect of human learning and history is engaged from the distinctive standpoint of the Christian tradition.  We believe that all history, ideas and creativity flow from, and ultimately point back to, the God who created us and transforms us (and our human cultures).  The School of Humanities seeks to actively and positively engage contemporary culture in light of the gospel.

We aim for the highest academic standards and our school is actively engaged in
dialogue through the publication of books and articles in their respective fields of study.

Students in Humanities have the opportunity to choose major areas of study from among the following disciplines:

  • Philosophy
  • History
  • English
  • Creative Writing

The School of Humanities is one of the newest schools of Tabor Adelaide but is a growing and active school.  Our lecturers, both full and part-time, are well-qualified in their respective fields with most holding a Ph.D or equivalent and actively contribute through the publication of books and journal articles to discussions within their disciplines.  While academic excellence and engagement are hallmarks of the School of Humanities, we are also actively engaged with our students on a personal and pastoral level.  Regular activities such as the beginning of year sausage sizzle, movie and quiz nights, regular academic pathway interviews and a programme to assist academically struggling students form important parts of the close and caring environment of which the School of Humanities.
