Do you relate well to young people? Do you have a desire to see young people fulfill their potential? There are a wide variety of jobs for youth workers in the community. These include areas such as:

  • mentoring

  • supervising overnight accomodation

  • assisting in youth programs

  • assisting in alternative education programs

  • Youth workers or Christian Pastoral Support workers in schools or churches


Certificate III in Community Services Work CHC30108

This is the basic qualification for working in a number of community service areas including Youth Work. A good place to start if you have not worked or studied for quite some time. It will introduce you to the world of community services. Elective units allow you to explore the areas of youth work, disability work, mental health work or working with older people. Work placement will enable you to get a start in the industry in an area of your interest.

 

Certificate IV in Youth Work CHC41808

This qualification is a desirable qualification for Youth Workers. Many services require their workers to hold this certificate. You will gain an overview of youth culture and issues and the world of youth services available today. You will learn how to relate effectively to young people, operate within the legal framework and respond holistically to young people's situations. 2 work placement opportunities will enable you to get a start in the industry in an area of your interest.

 

Diploma of Youth Work CHC51408

Youth services require experienced, mature workers to manage them and provide leadership to other youth workers. This qualification is suitable for experienced youth workers wanting to step into the management area. You will learn to develop, implement and review services and programs to meet young people's needs, facilitate links with other services, support young people to take collective action and manage service response to young people in crisis. Cert IV in Youth Work is a prerequisite to this course.

Recognition of Prior Learning


Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is conducted through relaxed interview. Please feel welcome to apply for RPL. Experienced workers may get the entire certificate through RPL.
